Ask the graph
Use Ask when you have a question the graph should ground in papers and citations — not when you only need “do you hold this?” (that is Have?).
In Atlas
- Select Ask.
- Type a real question (method comparisons, “who cites X”, “what implements Y”).
- Watch the lookups / grounded claims the UI surfaces under the answer.
- Written toggle (when shown): a model writes prose from the same grounded claims. Turning it off asks the graph more directly and avoids the model call; on a paid balance the UI documents different per-answer costs for written vs raw.

Agent twin
Agents use the same pipeline via REST GET /api/graph/ask with a Bearer trial token, or MCP graph_ask. See REST and MCP.
Trial tokens are metered. Declines can still spend daily allowance — check live /developers copy for current numbers rather than memorising this page.
